Distribution Of Learning Hours
The Archbishop’s School distribution of subject lessons 2024-25
Each student in KS3-4 has a sixty-lesson timetable spread over two weeks, with each lesson 50 minutes long. This is in addition to Form Time/Worship which starts each day and includes collective worship, a variety of activities including reading and looking at various aspects linked to safeguarding and current affairs as well as two assemblies a week.
KS5 students have ten lessons per subject per fortnight, and typically study 3-4 subjects. Alongside this, students often study towards an Extended Project Qualification as well as volunteering their time to work within the school and broader communities.

Students typically take three or four A-levels or equivalents each of which have ten lessons. Where necessary students take GCSE re-takes in English Language/ Mathematics or both subjects with six to eight lessons per subject. We also offer a Level 2 Gym Instructors qualification, normally tailored for students in the Millwall Football Academy or Canterbury Rugby Academy. Students also have two lessons of PE a week, a lesson of Religious Education a fortnight (in Year 12) and a lesson of PSHE a fortnight.

Students pick three subjects with six lessons in each subject. As well as the subjects on the left-hand side, subjects also include Art, Build Up, Digital IT, Drama, Enterprise, Health & Social Care, Hospitality and Catering, Music, Photography, Sport and Travel & Tourism.

Students are taught in two rotations of three lessons a fortnight. For example, they will study Drama and Art in Term 1 and then Food Technology and Music in Term 2 and then swap back. |
